1 Year: We Close Our Eyes

We close our eyes and dream and another year has come and gone

Aden Theodore born at 12:26 PM on 5/23/07 and a year later at 11:13 PM.

Hunter Rhiannon born at 12:27 PM on 5/23/07 and a year later at 11:18 PM.

(She was bouncing so hard in her jumper that her crown got all crooked!)

We're on the healing path
We're on a roller coaster ride
That could never turn back
And since you love me
And since you really try
To make the seconds count
Then we can close our eyes and dream...

*Lyrics slightly paraphrased but one of my favorite songs nonetheless...

More pictures, stories, reminiscences and blather over the course of the weekend.

1: Give us the 'Os... (guest post by Mark)

...and no one gets hurt.

Hunter and Aden are good about showing a unified front, but...

...there may have been some poaching going on.

Life is good, even if (or especially when) it comes in double-handfuls:

I'm super-pissed at our happy government friends in the NYS tax office so I'm just going to hold my tongue and leave you with this:

4a: Leap Years are a Bitch...

So a long, long time ago I put the kiddos' birthdate into an online countdown calendar.

One that apparently didn't realize that 2008 was a leap year.

You know where this is going, right? Everything has been a day off from the beginning and my countdown has been a little screwy. My 365 Project is indeed a 366 Project (rest assured, the photos for the albums have indeed been taken religiously and both sites will be updated soon...)

I thought I had spotted the mistake at earlier intervals but just kept writing it off to bad math and tiredness and parenthood so I never tried to address it.

I'd been in denial until last night when Mark made it clear to me that a) there was no moving their actual birthdate and b) that folks might be a touch disappointed in wishing the babies a "Happy Birthday" earlier than everyone expected.

So for the record, the kiddos' first birthday will take place Friday, May 23rd. I'm adjusting the countdown by creating 4a and 4b so our daily writeups will coincide with their actual birthday(s).

As for our plans for the big 1-0... The 'rents and the kiddos are planning to go to their first professional photo session, evah! (And, I think you can tell how I feel about that...)

Afterwards, we have a semi-fancy dinner planned at a local joint that we want to support and get used to the idea of having kidlets around. (Family-friendly is the new battlecry for us...)

And, finally, a super duper 1st birthday party at a really fun cajun/italian joint has been scheduled for the day after their birthday...

And... can I just simply say, holymotherfuckingshit!

A year? Already?

P.S. We will do some special posts (prob a few days after the big day) so that everyone can see how far these two doodlebugs have come.

Sippy cup training has begun:

However, neither baby wants to actually drink from the sippy.

Ah, the joys.
