I got the hankering to make some quick baby booties after setting up my Ravelry profile this weekend. (I'm "ashidome" if you want to friend me or find my profile.)
Aside: If you do look at my projects in Ravelry you will find every single thing that has been cast on and is still on needles. I'm a bit flummoxed by how much shit I have that is laying around in an unfinished state and am planning to spend the rest of this year and next finishing it all off.
Why yes, I know I've said this before. But this time will be different. I hope.
I was exploring different designers' profiles and saw the slip ons in Glampyre's finished projects list. Her booties looked incredibly cute and I was instantly smitten with the idea of making them. I knew I had the book in my library but hadn't looked at it since early January when I decided what I was going to knit for the babies. I looked at the pattern and it was so supersimple that I decided to make a couple of pairs to tide us over until the babies could fit into the Classic Cashmere booties I made. I chose the three month size for that pattern so the ones I made for them are still way too big.
If I had been able to work on them non-stop (HA!!!), I would have been able to make both pairs in about half a day. Still, I made much better progress than I thought I would. I managed to do all the knitting during quiet moments of the day yesterday and worked on the seaming and finishing this morning.
The slippers are still a teensy bit too big for Aden but they'll fit him perfectly in a couple of weeks. They fit Hunter pretty well, but she's been very fidgety lately. She managed to kick her pair off minutes after I put them on her so I may add some ribbon to secure them on her feet better.
I'm still on a roll finishing-wise and am working on more of the baby UFOs in my list at left. I'm expecting to have more finished stuff to show you in my next post.
I guess the tick-tock pressure of going back to work is good for something after all!
