There's another new project in the sidebar. Go look see... I'll be patient. You're probably saying, "Did you really need another project, Liz? Come on, look at all the stuff you've already got going on!"
In my defense, I was gifted with a brand new nostepinne and some laceweight from Hello Yarn. The yarn is 880 yards of hand dyed lace weight 100% merino in a colorway named "frosted petals".
Truth be told, it's not a colorway that I would have initially picked out for myself -- it's a little too easter egg dye -- but oddly enough I like it. Being the project-starting whore that I am, I wanted to make something out of it instantly. I decided to look through Victorian Lace Today and found a pattern that was both challenging and simple. Challenging in that it has K3togs all over the place and simple in that it's only 4 easily memorized pattern rows.
I cast on for it late last night -- well, late for me; it was 8 pm -- and after a few false starts and hiccups I managed to get the pattern working. I got to row 12 before calling it quits and can see the lovely open "Os" already. I really like this pattern but I'm not sure if this particular colorway would work better in something else... say something from Lavish Lace which was written specifically to showcase variegated yarns. Part of me is loath to frog my work so my guess is that I will keep on keeping on. That is until I get distracted by one of my bazillion other projects.
By the way, have you checked out the holiday Google doodle? There are knitting kangaroos! ANd if my eyes don't mistake me, it's the dad and kid that are knitting. (There's no drawn pouch slit so I'm assuming it's a male...) Somehow I find that way cool.
Wishing you and yours a happy and healthy!
Don't worry sea monkeys... Your stuff is going to get started soon. Keep growing healthy and strong!
